• APPLIED MATHS | Higher Level | Full Time | Grinds Applied Maths is a popular option at Hewitt College. Most students who take Applied Maths also take Physics and higher Maths which helps as there is significant overlap between the three courses. Applied Maths in Hewitt College is also a popular option as an extra subject, as it is not available in all schools. If you are considering a future career in the area of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Technology or Engineering, it’s a great choice! As there is no restriction on subject choices at Hewitt College, students that are interested in Science and STEM subjects may choose all or any of the following: Agricultural Science, Applied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics. Complementary subjects: Physics, higher Maths, Design and Communication Graphics. At Hewitt College, we are finalising our roadmap to safely guide our students on their Leaving Certificate journey.
  • ACCOUNTING | Higher Level | Full Time Accounting is commonly seen as the mathematical side of business and this subject attracts the students who enjoy working with numbers. Not only do students learn the principles of bookkeeping, they will learn how to interpret and analyse these figures. Accounting is a great choice for students considering a career in Finance, Accounting, Corporate Law or Business and Information Systems, to name but a few. Many other third-level courses will also have Accounting modules, such as Law,Law & Business, Management, Hospitality and Commerce. Students taking Accounting tend to have liked the Accounting paper of Business Studies at Junior Certificate level. A good grasp of numerical and computational skills is an advantage.

    HPAT 2024 The admissions test selected by the Irish Medical Schools is called HPAT-Ireland (Health Professions Admission Test-Ireland). This test is independently administered by ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research). ACER has an excellent international reputation and a track record in the development, management and research of selection tests for undergraduate medical and health related programmes. The HPAT-Ireland test measures a candidate’s logical reasoning and problem solving skills as well as non-verbal reasoning and the ability to understand the thoughts, behavior and/or intentions of people. It is designed to complement academic achievement, by providing assessment of skills in the areas of reasoning understanding and working with people. It does not test academic knowledge and candidates do not require special understanding of any academic discipline.
